De mantra waar traditioneel een Ashtanga yogales mee start. Een openingsmantra in Sanskriet, die niet eenvoudig te vertalen is, want de betekenis achter de woorden gaat veel verder dan de letterlijke vertaling.
De klanken zijn het belangrijkst, je kunt de mantra daarom rustig hardop meedoen, ook als je de woorden niet zo goed kent.
Een mooi begin van een yogales, je stemt op elkaar af en de klanken brengen stilte, omdat er geen ruimte meer is voor iets anders. De mantra opent met Ohm en wordt daarmee ook afgesloten.
